Syracuse Bread Factory Sketch

Reactivation of a long vacant industrial building.

The Syracuse Bread Factory project is a complete remediation, redevelopment, and reactivation of the historically significant building at 200 Maple Street on Syracuse’s Near Eastside into a vibrant neighborhood anchor.

Built in 1913 as a commercial bread baking facility, the building overlooked the convergence of the Erie Canal and the New York Central Railroad.
Designed by the renowned local architect Ward Wellington Ward, it is one of only four Ward-designed commercial buildings still in existence.

Heralded as a beacon of modernity in it’s time, the building is in rough shape and requires a substantial amount of work to stabilize it.

Despite extensive damage caused by weather and neglect, the entire building will be fully restored and reactivated.

From foundation to chimney top, we are bringing it back to life.

The Syracuse Bread Factory will be a destination experience for visitors to enjoy a symbiotic mix of food, beverage, and retail, while melding with the surrounding neighborhood via housing, spaces for creative entrepreneurs, and an expansive green roofscape.
